The Design-Build Institute of America Mid-Atlantic Region (DBIA-MAR) invites you to submit your successful
design-build project(s) for our 2009 Regional Design-Build Project Awards competition. Completed entries and entry
fee payments must arrive to the Office of the Chairman of Awards Program Committee no later than April 20, 2009.
In an effort to prepare those projects being submitted to the regional and national competition, we have followed the
same format and criteria for simplification with one exception. The Member fee will be $250 and the Non-Member fee
will be $450 for our regional competition. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mr.

To be considered for a Regional Design-Build Award, projects must demonstrate successful application of design-build
principles, including collaboration in the early stages of the project and the acceptance of single-entity risk. The
project must be completed on time, on budget and without litigation. Winning projects are honored for their
advanced and innovative application of total integrated project delivery and finding unique solutions for project challenges.
Project submissions may be awarded a Regional Design-Build, Design-Build Excellence, or Design-Build Merit
Award in one of 12 categories. To be eligible, projects must have been completed between March 31, 2006 and March 31, 2009.
Judging will take place in April/May 2009 by a jury of industry experts, including DBIA members, owners
and design-builders prior to the May 18 deadline for submission to the National competition.
Award presentations will take place during the October 2009 DBIA-MAR member event. Please provide contact
information for up to three design-build team members who will accept the single award on the team’s behalf
at the award ceremony. This physical award will be engraved with the project name, category and
design-builder’s company name. Additional awards specifying the owner, engineer, architect or other
team members may be purchased after the award ceremony through DBIA.
